We’re looking for a student assistant (final year bachelor students and above) to help develop AI tools for implementing educational applications across Tilburg University. This role involves integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) using Python and R for API interactions. You’ll contribute to the front-end and back-end development of AI-driven applications, as well as deploying them on Docker/Kubernetes infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with a team of lecturers, educational developers, and professors, and participate in brainstorming and strategic discussions aimed at defining the growth path of AI in Tilburg.

Your Role

As a Student Assistant, you will:

  • Develop AI tools for educational applications, focusing on integration with Large Language Models (LLMs) using Python and R for API interactions. 
  • Contribute to the front-end and back-end development of AI-driven applications, as well as deploying them on Docker/Kubernetes infrastructure. 
  • Collaborate closely with a team of lecturers, educational developers, and professors, as well as interact with Tilburg Science Hub 
  • Participate in brainstorming and strategic discussions aimed at defining the growth path of AI in Tilburg, and learning how to set and achieve ambitious goals. 

Who We’re Looking For

Must-Haves

  • Technical Skills:
    • Excellent proficiency in Python.
    • Experience with front-end and back-end development.
    • Familiarity with Git/GitHub/GitLab.
    • Basic knowledge of R and a willingness to learn more.
    • Experience working with APIs.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong communication and writing skills in English.
    • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools and technologies.
  • Educational Status:
    • Currently enrolled as a student at Tilburg University (including JADS).

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with Flask and Docker.
  • Background in machine learning.
  • Familiarity with app deployment processes.

Terms of Employment

  • Duration: 1-2 days per week (8-16 hours).
  • Flexibility: No fixed working days are required; hours are declared monthly.
  • Location: Fully remote work is possible. You also have the option to work on campus if you prefer.
  • Compensation: We offer the standard research/teaching assistant salary.
  • Requirements: Must be registered and located in The Netherlands.
  • Equipment: Use your own computer to work from home unless otherwise arranged with your supervisor.
